Answer:   SOVERGIEN: it means India has its own supreme power and not a subject of any other state or country.

SOCIALIST: it is the stress to need to strive for socialism in implying equitable distribution of national income to all ection of people.

SECULAR: it is to imply that all religions command equal respect and recognition from the state.

DEMOCRATIC: it is to imply that India has chosen a form of government in which people have a say as to who should hold power and how it should be used.

REPUBLIC: it refers to a state in which power is  held by people through their elected representatives.

According to the preamble of Indian constitution,

India is a sovereign, secular, democratic and republic country!

By the 42nd amendement act, it added,

  • Secular
  • Socialism
  • Integrity

Sovereign:-

                                           

  • The term was added by 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976.      
  • Neither dependency nor a dominion of other country.
  • It is free to conduct own affairs.
  • Membership of the common wealth countries.
  • Membership in UN.

   

Socialism:-

           

  • The term was added by 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976.  
  • Democratic socialism, not a communist socialism.
  • Democratic socialism came to end poverty, ignorance, disease and inequality of opportunities.
  • Blend of Marxism and Gandhism.
  • Holds a faith in mixed economy.

           

Secular:-  

  • The term was added by 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1976.
  • Though the words ‘secular state’ were not expressly mentioned in the Constitution, the maker of the Constitution wanted to India to be secular state.
  • India has positive concept of secularism, all religions in our country have the same status and support from the state.
  • Fundamental right to freedom of religion. [From Artcle 25 to 28]

           

Democratic:-

                 

  • Presence of supreme power by people.
  • Parliamentary Democracy - Executive is responsible to legislation.
  • Universal adult franchise, periodic election and rule of law.
  • Indepenedent Judiciary.
  • Absence of discrimination.
  • Not only political democracy but also social and economic democracy.

           

Republic:-

             

  • It means India has an elected head of state.
  • Absence of any privilaged class.

         

Due to these reasons, it is said to be India is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic country!

The Preamble says that– “We, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN, SOCIALIST, SECULAR, DEMOCRATIC, REPUBLIC…”
