yes, there are many ways we can find in India the "colonial hangover" has not waned of completely
Explanation:
- The way the British had suppressed/oppressed Indians, discriminated against Indians and much more, if you witness that Indians too in the society are following the same culture. The rich and upper class and the influential people are oppressing and suppressing the weaker & backward class people, based on caste there has been discrimination in every form and domain be it jobs, education, healthcare, sports , among others. Even today in many villages the concept of Zamindari system, taxes, exploitation of workers/labourers are widely prevalent.
- It is curious that even after seven decades of democracy in virtually all government fields, from judiciary to security, to military operations, and even in parliament, the feel, look, practices & protocol continue to give a glimpse of the colonial regime. The "durwans" who are attired in "colonial dress code" with long turbans standing in attention firmly next to the Chairman & Speaker in the Parliament are a legacy of British history that has been ongoing until now. Similarly, in India, the judges are always addressed as "My Lord," "Your Honor."
- And peons are the legacies of a colonial period, which we accept enthusiastically, in the workplaces and in the old businesses. Therefore, is the "Sir" and "Madam" society. So far as the police is concerned, our police force also uses lathi charges to restrain unscrupulous crowds – a tactic commonly employed under the British Raj as weapon for crushing the satyagrahis who protested their rule.
