see ,,, it depends upon the are we are talking about...
in areas which are more prone to poverty ,, the people(voters) are either bribed or threatened to give vote to a specific party or representative..Example:- chawls in mumbai are resided by poors .. there the leaders come and distribute liquor,money,shawls etc to collect or accommodate votes... the leaders of rival parties are even killed by hiring criminals or contract killers.. so that there is no competition.. but this is not very spirit of democracy..
where as if we talk about the urban areas or cities there is a free and fair election..
so in our GREAT INDIAN CULTURE both FAIR AND UNFAIR MEANS are used to win an election......
