It is not a good practice to burn the stubs left in the field. It causes air pollution and may also cause soil pollution.

Although it is useful in clearing the field and removing the weeds quickly.
There are number of harmful effects of this burning.
There is always a chance of going the fire out control.
The most important harmful effect is the environmental pollution.
And The result of this activity is the loss of the soil nutrients.
This is why stubs burning had been ban in many countries like england .
Canada is allowing it only on certain circumstances .
Even in the northern parts of the India there is a ban on it by the punjab pollution control board. But still the stub burning is being practices and government looking to enforce the ban forcefully.
