Answer:

Yes here you can see that the balloons are acting as lungs or you can call chest cavity or alveoli . In the diagram about diaphagram nothing is mentioned but still i would like to tell about that as its linked with this. In the figure one 1 the air is moving inside the jar so the balloons (lungs) expands because of the alveoli present inside of lungs which expands when the air fills inside it i.e when we inhale so ultimately our chest cavity expands when we inhale and at the same time our diaphagram contracts . But in the 2nd case where the air is taken out or exhaled the ballon(lungs) contracts as all the air present inside alveoli is given out . At the same time the diaphagram expands .
