Yes, I think its necessary.
As, when a line meets at x-axis the y coordinate is 0 and x coordinate has some value.
When both the values are inserted in the equation it gives 0 which means they are the solution of the that polynomial.
Also, every point of the graph from where the curve or line of graph passes is a solution of that equation.
For instance the point x = 1 and y = 0 is a solution of that polynomial of whose graph is drawn below in the AttaChmeNt.
And every point of this curve is a solution of that polynomial.
