Marriage is necessary if you feel that you need a partner to support you (whom you can support too) and work as a motivation to live your life and achieve yours and theirs set goals (personal or professional). Practically speaking, after your 60s, it is not a curse to have someone by your side whom you can trust to peacefully live the last phase of your life with. Therefore, Having a support system is definitely a major Advantage in case of a successful marriage.
However, if you just want to marry for the sake of marrying or to keep your name in the society, then that is one of the worst decisions that you can make in your life. If you somehow fall in Love with your spouse after marriage, and establish mutual trust and support towards each other in good and bad times, then Congrats ! But if you fail to do that, then you have not only ruined your Life, but also hers and both of your families’ life. As you care about society so much in this case, you will also be worried to Divorce him/her if it doesn't work out, and cause more misery for the two of you. And all that for some petty societal elements who have nothing better to do than mock and gossip about others till they die ? Think about it.
