Given  :  a system of linear equations in two variables

one equation represents a vertical line and

the other equation represents a horizontal line

To Find :  Is it possible to use substitution or elimination

Solution:

ax  +  by + c  =  0 linear equation

pair of linear equations

a₁x  +  b₁y + c₁  =  0

a₂x  +  b₂y + c₂  =  0

Vertical line   => a₁x  +  c₁  =  0

Horizontal line => b₂y + c₂  =  0

a₁x  +  c₁  =  0 => x = -c₁/a₁

b₂y + c₂  =  0 => y = - c₂/b₂

We can solve each equation individually so we need not to use substitution or elimination method

as each  linear Equation  has only variable

x = 3  , y = 4

Solution is ( 3 , 4)
