Waste water treatment plants use a number of physical, biological and chemical processes to remove any impurities from the wastewater.

After filtering, the grit, pebbles and sand are allowed to settle down and any oil and grease are removed too.

Then air is pumped in this water to help bacteria grow. River water also follows similar processes to clean naturally.
