Is it possible that a force is acting on a body but still work done is zero? Explain Giving one example​

for ex a boy pushing the wall

here the boy applied the force but workdone will be 0

Here is your answer,

We Know that work done is the product of the force applied on a body and the displacement traveled in the direction of the force applied (W = F.S)

Try to push a sturdy wall. Here, we are applying force to the wall although the wall doesn't move (displacement = 0).

So the work done is :-

W = F. S

W = F(0)

W = 0

From this example we can say that for work to be done, force must be applied on a body and it must travel some displacement in the direction of force.
