See Generally, are viewed as the toughest shell to crack. From parents to relatives to even those who know nothing about the ICSE syllabus, most of them project ICSE exams as a devil in the darkroom. But as a student, it is up to you to convince yourself that it is nothing more than just a board exam. Do not panic; as you can do extremely well if you make a planned preparation. Here are some tips to make your class 10 exam preparation easy and more effective.

Prepare a subject-wise study plan

Based on the subjects you have selected, prepare a study plan for every subject. Allot time-based on the importance and toughness of the subject. For example, languages may be devoted lesser time as compared to core subjects. But make sure that you do not neglect any subject, however easy you may feel it be. Give more time for subjects those you feel are tough or complicated. Try to understand practical aspects behind every concept, so that it remains in your mind forever. When it comes to subjects like, make charts of formulas and equations and paste them in your study room, so that you can visually memorize them. When it comes to subjects like Biology, draw the pictures, highlight them using bright colours and labels, so that it leaves a long-lasting impression on your mind.

Take the help of Mnemonics and Flashcards to memorize difficult concepts

Imagination is the best way to retain things in your mind. Whatever you study, try to visualize it in your mind so that its impression stays in your memory. Designing a flashcard or creating smart Mnemonics can help you easily recall the concepts. For example, if someone asks you to name all the colours in a rainbow, you may not be able to do it in a single shot or may miss out naming a colour or two. But if you recall the famous mnemonic VIBGYOR, it becomes very easy to name all the colours without a miss. The same way relate things like long names, years, incidents, etc. to any familiar event or date of your life so that it stays in your mind forever.

Solve previous years

Complete your syllabus a few months before your final exams, so that you get enough time to revise all subjects at least once or twice. Once you start revising, start solving all previous years’ exam papers and sample papers. Solving will give you a clear cut idea about your preparation. Try to solve papers of at least 8-10 years, so that you can get a complete picture of question papers. Once you solve a paper, assess yourself or take the help of a subject expert to assess your performance. Based on that you can concentrate and work on the areas in which you are weak.

Make a realistic time table:

Besides all the regular classes and coaching classes you attend, it is very important to plan a timetable for your self-study and follow it without a miss. Generally, when it comes to self-study, most students neglect it or miss it for some or the other reason. But understand that lectures and coaching classes cannot give you complete result unless it is supported by self-study. Whatever you learn in your school or coaching class, you have to revise it at home to retain it in your memory. You can use for your revision. These books highlight important topics in every chapter that need more attention.

Avoid mugging up and practice writing

They say that writing a particular thing one time is equal to reading it ten times. When you write an answer or draw a picture, it creates an image in your mind which can be retained for a long time. But on the other hand, if you mug up a long answer, chances are, once you forget a single line you may not get the continuity and eventually end up forgetting the rest. So when you are learning a concept for the first time, it is always better to write and learn.

Along with all the above-mentioned points, it is very important to stay calm and stress-free during your exams. You can practice meditation or yoga to control your anxiety and reduce exam pressure. Prepare well and perform with confidence to achieve success.

We hope that Above tips will be really helpful for you.
