(two sides of a triangle is always greater than the third side)
so, (3+5)cm=8cm
8cm=8cm
so, it is not possible to construct a triangle with its length 3cm,5cm and 8cm.

Answer- The above question is from the chapter 'The Triangle and its Properties'.

Concept used: Sum of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the third side.

Given question: Is it possible to construct a triangle with lengths 3 cm, 5 cm and 8 cm? Give reason for your answer.

Solution: The given three sides are 3 cm, 5 cm and 8 cm.

We know that sum of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the third side.

3 + 5 = 8

8 = 8 No

8 + 3 = 11

11 > 5 Yes

5 + 8 = 13

13 > 3 Yes

Since, the sum of the two sides of triangle i.e. 3 cm and 5 cm is not greater than the third side i.e. 8 cm, therefore, the triangle is not possible.

Hence, a triangle with sides 3 cm, 5 cm and 8 cm is not possible.
