Is it possible to have 11 protons and 10 electrons in an atom. Why or why not?

That “element” you just described is an atom with atomic number 11 (sodium). The atomic number is always equal to the number of protons. The reason I put “element” in quotes is because not all sodium atoms have this exact same configuration. Isotopes of sodium all have 11 protons, yet they have a differing amount of neutrons.
