Is it possible to replace a fuse wire with a copper wire? Why?

If we use a copper wire instead of a fuse and if the current accidentally exceeds the safety limit, the fuse wire will not melt and break the circuit. This may damage the electrical appliances and may cause fire also.

whereas if you take CU wire it has wire high melting point .So, when more than required currwnt passes through it will not melt. As the result the appliance will have to take the large amount of current which can be therefore it is dangerous to replace a fuse wire with copper wire
