Is it possible to separate sugar mixed with wheat flour? If yes, how will you do it?
Answers
Answer:
Yes, it is possible.
• Add water to the mixture of sugar and wheat.
(Sugar, being soluble in water will dissolve in it. Wheat, being insoluble in water will remain suspended in the water)
• Allow the mixture to stand, undisturbed for some time.
(Wheat will sink to the bottom. That is, sedimentation of insoluble component occurs)
• Slowly, pour the water into another container without disturbing the wheat (that is, perform decantation).
(Wheat will remain in the initial container. Thus, we have separated out, wheat. The sugar solution is obtained in the other container. If necessary, filter the sugar solution)
• Boil the sugar solution.
(Water will evaporate, leaving behind sugar. If necessary, perform crystallisation, to obtain more pure crystals of sugar)
Thus, we have successfully seperated out wheat and sugar from their mixture.
