Is it true that work output of a machine is always less than work input because of energy lost due to friction?

Because of friction, the work done bya machine is always less than thework done on the machine. Because friction is always present, the actual mechanical advantage of a machine is always less than the ideal mechanical advantage. of a machine is the number of times that the machine increases aninput force.
