"They are same but different"

Firstly, soil pollution is actually one of the causes of land pollution, hence sometimes these 2 terms are used interchangeably (Difference Between, 2016). So soil pollution is like a subset of land pollution. But they are also different because land pollution covers things other than soil pollution, like destroying animal habitats and dumping of waste on land (New World Encyclopedia, 2016).

Land pollution looks at the degradation of land surface of Earth while soil pollution looks at contamination of soil. They are also different in terms of causes and effects, but there are also similar causes and effects.

See the table which gives the differences between land pollution and soil pollution.
