is lanthanum a lanthanide ? as in my material it is given that lanthanum is included in the d block and the elements after lanthanum is considered as lanthanides... similarly in some of the websites it is give the same, so what is the correct answer?​

Lanthanum is the first element and prototype of the lanthanide series. In the periodic table, it appears to the right of the alkaline earth metal barium and to the left of the lanthanide cerium.
