But take a different scenario...a circle.
- displacement is the distance between starting point and ending point....shortest distance
- distance is the total distance traveled by you.
- displacement is a vector..that is you can understand the direction the object moved..
- Distance doesn't show the direction of motion.
- and magnitude of displacement is vector divided by direction ..which may or may not be distance
