When it comes to understanding the nature of how people see things and how people portray things the world of media portrayals gets highlighted.

In regard to media portrayals, sometimes people tend to be in a position of addressing a paradox that whether the media is actually free from any restrains or biasness.

When one observes with a critical eye, they must take into account the fact that the media is a profit motive driven industry. So its fair to state that they will lean towards those who provide monetary benefit, thus indicating that indeed media isn't free. Rather than that citizen journalism still possesses a viable approach.

Media is said to be the fourth pillar of democracy. It ensures transparency in the working of all the other pillars, viz. Judiciary, Executive and Legislature.

Media should be unbiased and free from any partiality that can create confusion among citizens.

But sometimes, media is affected by political motives and decisions. So, we cannot say that media is fully independent.
