No Mg + O2 AND 2MG + O2 ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT BECAUSE IN FIRST CASE THERE IS 1 MAGNESIUM AND TWO OXYGEN BUT IN SECOND CASE THERE IS TWO MAGNESIUM AND TWO OXYGEN.

actually both are not same...if you ll balance following reaction,you ll get as
2Mg+O2->2MgO
Mg+O2(means 1 mole of Mg requires 1 mole of O2)
and 2Mg+O2 means (2 mole of Mg requires 1 mole of O2):-)
2Mg+O2->2MgO
Mg+O2(means 1 mole of Mg requires 1 mole of O2)
and 2Mg+O2 means (2 mole of Mg requires 1 mole of O2):-)
