Answer:

Neon is neither a metal nor a metalloid. It is a non-metal.

Neon is a chemical element that has a symbol of “Ne” and an atomic number 10.

It is in fact a noble gas element.

Neon is colorless and odorless. Its inert monatomic gas under standard

conditions is with about 2/3 of density of air.

It was discovered with krypton and xenon in the year 1898 as one of the three

residual rare inert elements remaining in dry air, after these were removed: nitrogen,

oxygen, argon and carbon dioxide.

Neon is second of these 3 rare gases to be discovered and immediately, it was recognized

as new element with its bright red emission spectrum.
