is nitrogen an inert gas. If yes why?

Nitrogen N2 is inert gas bcoz the triple bond between two nitrogen atoms is very strong.

No nitrogen is not an inert gas because Nitrogen is reactive - it forms many compounds such as ammonia, nitrates, it is a fundamental ingredient in all proteins. It even forms diatomic molecules N2 with itself. Not an inert gas.
