Homogeneous: these are the type of mixtures which have uniform composition throughout and have single phase i.e. there are no physical boundaries. e.g. alloys, solution of salt and water
They are usually transparent in appearance.
Heterogeneous: these are the type of mixtures which have non-uniform composition and different phase i.e. there is visible physical boundaries of separation. e.g. sand, Iron filings, water, sulphur powder together.
They are visibly not transparent/they are usually translucent.
