These trees are known as emergents. They are much taller than most trees in the rainforest and their crowns are exposed to the direct sunlight. Some trees such as the kapok may reach heights greater than 200 feet (61 meters).

Animals is not found equatorial rainforest.

  • Arboreal creatures found in equatorial woods are the main species that can survive in swampy & marshy environments of forests. Consequently, equatorial woodlands do not have creatures like lions.
  • A subset of the tropical forest biome that often occurs within the 28-degree latitudes, true rainforests are typically found between 10 degrees north and south of the equator (see map) (in the equatorial zone between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn).
  • Rainforests come in two varieties: tropical and temperate. Closer to the equator, where it is warm, are tropical rainforests. Near the cooler coastal regions farther north or south of the equator are where you can find temperate rainforests. In the hot, humid ecosystem of the tropical rainforest, it constantly rains.
  • There is wildlife in every habitat. There are various types of animals in deserts, plains, meadows, woodlands, forests, and other places, including the most developed urban areas.
