Yes nutrition is necessary for an organism for growth of the cells,for repair of the worn-out or injured cells,for energy to carry out different life proceeses and for the protection of the body from diseases and infections and many other things.

everyday, many cells are worn out and they need to be replaced with new cells.

for formation of new cells , raw material and energy both are required.

so , nutrition becomes a necessity  for sustaining life of organism.
