yes O2 is required for food preparation of plant specially in photosynthesis!!

Sunlight

Water

Carbon dioxide

Chrorophyll

So, Oxygen is not needed here.......

In fact, oxygen is a byproduct of the process of photosynthesis.......

6CO2+6H2O------------->C6H12O6+6CO2......
