Due to the birthplace only, people feel they are superior to other people of different birthplace. The thought that their country is always right with whatever they are doing is introduced to them since childhood.
Explanation:
Is patriotism inherent to human nature?
Patriotism is not inherent to human nature. A child is not born knowing that he/she is Indian, or British or American. As a child grows, it is taught that it is a nation of a particular country. It is born in a particular country and its ancestors lived there. Hence it owes its patriotism to that country.
A child who does not live in its motherland, as we say, may not possess such affinity to that motherland. The environment he/she grows in molds his/her patriotism.
For example, a child, born in the US to Indian parents who have lived all their lives there, with no Indianness in them may not bring up their child as an Indian. The child may grow up as an American and not have any patriotic feelings for India.
Hence, patriotism is not inherent to human nature. This is true more so in the global environment we live in today than ever before.
