pbo2 is not a base because when it reacts with hcl products formed are water salt and chlorine . as the definition of base is a base is either a mettalic oxide r ammonium hydroxide which react with acid to form salt and water only

Hey dear,

● Explanation -
- This question is hard to be answered in a single yes/no.
- Lead oxide (PbO2) is amphoteric oxide and thus reacts with both acids and bases.
- PbO2 reacts with HCl to form PbCl2 and H2O.
PbO2 + 2HCl --> PbCl2 + H2O
- PbO2 reacts with NaOH to form Na2PbO3 and H2O
PbO2 + 2NaOH --> Na2PbO3 + H2O

Hope this helped you...
