The plasmodium repeats the life cycle. Examples : Physarum, Physarella, Fuligo, Dictydium, Lucogala, Tubifera. (1) The cellular slime moulds occurs in the form of haploid uninucleated, naked (without cell wall) cell covered by plasma membrane. These cells are called myxamoebae.

Physarella is an acellular slime mould. These are the products of differentiation of plasmodium under unfavourable conditions.

Spores are highly resistant and can survive for many years. Added to this, they are light weight and hence can easily undergo aerial dispersion.

Other examples of acellular slime moulds include Fuligo, Physarum, Lycogala, etc. Some of these also carry anthracene pigment.
