Yes, Pinus is an evergreen tree as it does not shed its leaves all at once unlike deciduous trees. It has needle-like leaves to prevent transpiration which is a feature of evergreen trees.

Pinus is an evergreen, coniferous resinous tree.

Explanation:-

  • Evergreen trees are trees that shed their leaves throughout the year because they are covered with leaves all the time. They remain stable in all four seasons. Unlike deciduous plants that completely lose their leaves in winter or dry weather.

  • Pinus does not shed its leaves during a particular season and is always evergreen. Therefore Pinus is considered an evergreen tree that belongs to gymnosperms.

  • So Pinus is an evergreen, coniferous resinous tree.

  • Leaves in gymnosperms are well adapted to withstand extreme temperatures, humidity, and wind.

  • In conifers, needle-like leaves have reduced surface area. Their thick cuticle and sunken stomata also help reduce water loss.

  • In extremely cold conditions flowering plants shed their leaves and go dormant. But the presence of Pinus bark, which has sunken stomata in thick, needle-like leaves, reduces the rate of transpiration.

  • Cold regions are physiologically and physiologically dry due to low precipitation, precipitation in the form of snow reduced root absorption at low temperatures and exposed habitats.

  • Also, Pinus is even adapted to extreme conditions. It continues to manufacture food during this period and evolves to dominate other plants. This shows that Pinus is an evergreen tree. It does not shed its leaves, that is, needles, under any circumstances.
