some are determinate and some are indeterminate

The plant growth is generally Indeterminate which means that plants grow throughout their life ,ie,they have unlimited growth due to presence of meristematic tissue at certan specific sites. the cells of this tissue can divide and self perpetuate and keep adding cells to the plant .
