Tense are divided into three types
★ Present Tense
★ Past Tense
★ Future Tense
Simple Present Tense is a subtype of Present Tense, hence present tense and simple present are not the same. If present perfect tense is used, then it is present tense, if present continuous then also present tense. So we can not say that simple Present is individually the same as present tense.
