Quick like is the general name of calcium oxide .It is used in whitewashing .When this quick lime reacts with water then it form Calcium hydroxide that is slaked lime .

CaO(s)+H2O(l)=Ca(OH)2.

This slaked lime is putted on walls and then it react with CO2(carbon dioxide) to form CaCO3(calcium carbonate) . Then this a shiny appearance to wall.
