Reading is still an important activity even these days. Reading has been a most important activity for people of all ages. Perhaps learning has changed from the way it used be. But learning by reading is still followed by many.
Reading favourite books as a pass time is very much there. Perhaps it has reduced. Many people are now occupied with video, TV, mobile and internet related activities.
Reading is one of the main activities by which we learn a lot of things. We do not need another person to teach many things. Those things we learn by reading at our convenience. As internet is in everyone's hands nowadays, I believe people read a lot.
Learning through seeing or direct person-to-person has reduced. Learning by self reading and practicing has increased.
