Friends I'm saying u whole answer:
The lipid bilayer is made up of a double layer of phospholipid molecules.it is amphipathic in nature, with polar heads (hydrophilic) and non -polar tails (lipophilic) ties arrangement only allows lipid souble substances to cross the membrane

Phospholipid bilayer is responsible fo lipophilic molecules to cross across plasma membrane.
Phospholipid bilayer:
Phospholipids are the membrane protein layer that are hydrophobic. It has two layers- the integral membrane protein and the peripheral membrane protein.
Mechanism:
- The phospholipid bilayer provides selective permeability of molecules across the cell membrane. Only small and uncharged molecules like and are let in the cell membrane freely.
- Larger molecules that are uncharged such as glucose and amino acids cannot cross the membrane without the help of transporters like transmembrane proteins.
- The molecule transport is facilitated by concentration or electrochemical gradient. This type of transport is called as passive transport.
Sometimes the molecules are also transported through carrier proteins or channels. These channels open only during a stimuli and are otherwise closed.
