The computer first executes a relatively small program stored in read-only memory (ROM) along with a small amount of needed data, to access the nonvolatile device or devices from which the operating system programs and data can be loaded into RAM.

Answer:

The booting process of any device has two types:

Hard Boot

Hard boot can be considered as complete boot, as in from off-state to CPU-powering-on-state. Whenever we boot any device after it’s power-source has been removed, the hard-boot takes place.

Soft Boot

The soft boot can be considered as just flushing out the RAM or volatile memory of a device, and loading it again with OS.
