Sal ammoniac is also known as ammonium chloride.
It is appears to sublime upon heating but the reality is that it is decomposes into  ammonia and hydrogen chloride gas.
NH4CL→  NH3 + HCL

Also, This rare compound is actually found in volcanic region forming a volcanic rock near fume releasing vents. The crystal deposits directly from the gaseous state.
