Hi friend, Here's the required answer:-
A sponge is a solid because sponge support all the characteristics of a solid except compressibility of a solid. A sponge has pores in it which allows the sponge to be compressed, But it is. a solid .

Hi friend,
Sponge is a solid. But as we know that solids can't be compressed as they have negligible voids between between them because of strong force of attraction but we can compress sponge. Why? .As we know that sponge has air spaces between them and air is there in it ,when we press the sponge the air is expelled out and thus the sponge is compressed. But it's a solid.
Hope it Helps!!!!!!!
