Answer:

sec²theta is 7/6

Step-by-step explanation:

because we know that

sec² theta -tan²theta =1

by this sec²theta =1+tan²theta

and tan theta is 1/3

S.O.B.S (squaring)

gives tan²theta = 1/6

1+tan²theta = 1+1/6 → 7/6

sec²theta =7/6

Hello

SOLUTION

TAN theta = perpendicular/ base

ATQ: tan theta = 1/3

let perpendicular be 1x and base be 3x

By Pythagoras theorem= hypotenuse^2 = perpendicular^2 + base^2

hypotenuse^2 =(1x)²+ (3x)²

= 1x² + 9x²

= 10x²

hypotenuse= √(10x²)

=√10 x

Now, Sec^2 theta = (hypotenuse/ base ) ^2

= 10x²/ 9x²
