let's take an example to understand:-

 {(2 - 1)}^{2}  =  {2}^{2}  +  {1}^{2}  - 2(2)(1) = 5 - 4 = 1

 {(q - p)}^{2}  =   {(1 - 2)}^{2}  =  {1}^{2}  +  {2}^{2}  - 2(1)(2) = 5 - 4 = 1
