Is the acceleration of a car greater than the accelerator is pushed to the floor or when brake pedal ispushed hard?

In most cases when the accelerator is pushed to the floor,the power of the engine increases slightly which further increases the magnitude of its velocity and hence the acceleration increases at a constant rate.When the brake pedal is pushed hard,the forward velocity component decreases & the component of acceleration becomes negative.
