On cutting the wood it will never come back to its original state . so it is a chemical change .

When wood is burned it forms a completely new substance, i.e., coal. The properties’ of coal are different from wood. This is a chemical change.
Whereas, when wood is cut no new substance is formed. This is a physical change.
