is the dye in black ink is a single clour ? material required piece of chalk ,tissue paper , transparent glass ,black sketch,marker .procedure take a peace of chalk ,draw the black sketch into approximately above 1 cm from the bottom .take a glass of water and place this piece this piece of chalk into the glass in such a way that the line marked with link is just above the water level .watch carefully and record your observation ,and answer the question below what do u observe with the water level on the peace of chalk ?does the ink coloured remains the same​

Answer:

It is not a single colour. You can seperate it by the process of chromotography. Follow the steps to do the chromotography.

1. Take a think strip of filter paper

2. Dras a line on it using a pencil, approximately 3cm above the lower edge

3. Put a small drop of ink (from sketch pen) at the centre of the line.

4.Let it dry

5. Lower the filter paper into a jar/glass containing waer o that the drop of ink on the paper is just above the water level .

6. Leave undisturbed

Then the water will rise on the filter paper. The water takes the dye particles along with it and it seperates the colours as shown in the figure
