Mean=sum of all numbers/total number of all numbers

Here the mean is given as 5

And according to the question

Mean of (2+4+6+8+X+y ) is 5

Writing it in above form

(2+4+6+8+x+y)/6=5

Which is (20+X+y)/6 =5

On cross multiplication we get,

20+X+y=30

On rearranging we get,

X+y=30–20,

Which then implies

X+y=10
