The median of the following array 59, 62, 65, x, x+2, 72, 85,99 is 67,then x=66

Step-by-step explanation:

Given numbers are 59, 62, 65, x, x+2, 72, 85, 99

Number of observation is 8

We know  Median is middle most value .

Here n is even so median is \frac{\frac{n}{2}+(\frac{n}{2} +1) }{2} th observation

Median of the given data is  \frac{\frac{8}{2} +(\frac{8}{2}+1) }{2} th observation

        here \frac{8}{2}th observation=4th observation = x

and 5th observation = x+2

       so Median is \frac{\textrm{x+x+2}}{2}

                            =\frac{\textrm{2x+2}}{2}

                            =\textrm{x+1}

given median is 67

so \textrm{x+1}=67

or \textrm{x}=66
