yes of course when magnetic field was obtained around the discharge tube .
Electron's motion is affected.
we can say rays to this flow of eletrons.
when eletric field was applied rays used to repel negative charge and deflect towards positive charge.
And when magnetic field was applied then they do not deflected towards y axis as shown in the figure y axis is upwards x-axis is in the middle and z axis is downwards . but they deflected towards z axis
