Elasticity is the property of a material which enables it to resist plastic deformation.

Explanation:

1. Elasticity is property of material to regain its original shape and its size of materials on changing its size by apply force on it. Means it oppose its change in shape and size of object.

Example: Best example of elasticity of material is Rubber.

2. Plasticity: On apply force on any object, size and shape of will change. If material do not oppose to its change in size and shape after removing the force. This property of material is called plasticity.

3. Hardness: it is surface property of material to oppose any cuts on surface.

4. Ductility: Its is property of materials due to which its shape change into wire shape.

From point above it is clear that to resist change in permanent deformation is  by virtue of elasticity property.
