As the lysogenic cycle allows the host cell to continue to survive andreproduce, the virus is reproduced in all of the cell's offspring. An example of a bacteriophage known to follow thelysogenic cycle and the lytic cycle is the phage lambda of E. coli.

\huge\text{\underline{Virus:}}

\sf{\underline{Reproduction:}}

It is of two main types: Phagic and Pinocytic

(a) \text{\underline{Phagic\:Reproduction:}}

⚫Only nucleic acid of virus enters the host cell. It is further of two types:

(i) \sf{\underline{Lyric\:cycle:}} Occurs in virulent phages.

\sf{Example:} T_{4} bacteriophages.

(ii) \sf{\underline{Lysogenic\:cycle:}} Occurs in temperature viruses.

\sf{Example:} λ phage.

(b) \text{\underline {Pinocytic\:Reproduction:}}

⚫It is found in viruses like TMV, HIV, Hepatitis B etc., in which whole of virus particle enters host cell except envelope (if present).
