A number of shapes occurs in cells like globular, oval, thread-like etc.
It depends upon the function it performs and other factors.
I've listed below some examples depending on function -
RBCs are circular and biconcave. It helps it to pass through narrow capillaries and transport oxygen.
Muscle cells are elongated for contraction.
Sperms have tail for motility while eggsare spherical to accommodate maximum nutrients.
Nerve cells are very long for the conduction of impulses to distant places from different body parts to brain and vice-versa.
